Description

Likewise is a fun, social and incredibly useful way for people to discover, curate, and share recommendations on TV shows, movies, books, podcasts and more. Best of all, Likewise helps people quickly find recommendations from their friends, family, and other trusted sources.

Initially imagined and backed by Bill Gates’ private office, Likewise is the rare early-stage startup that is thinking big, playing to win, and investing to continue its rapid growth trajectory. If you are passionate about what you do and want to be a core part of building something brand new, then come talk to us about getting in on the fun!

Likewise works at the intersection of technology and entertainment to provide consumers with everything they need to find their next favorite TV show, movie, book or podcast. We are an amazing team of 30 smart, experienced and hardworking individuals who love what we do. We are looking for someone who has the energy, drive, and demonstrated career progression to senior human resources positions in both small and large tech organizations, who wants to be an integral part of a company on the path to becoming a household name. This is a Kirkland-based position, reporting to the CEO, with a 2-day weekly commitment to be in our office.

Requirements

Here’s what key to be successful in this position:

  • Leadership – key member on the executive leadership team who actively contributes towards overall business and organizational strategies; proactive in developing and executing all strategic HR initiatives and projects. Provide direct and honest feedback to leadership and all team members and ensure that others are doing the same.
  • Trusted Advisor - trusted advisor and partner to the CEO and each member of the leadership team. Proactively balance the role of employee advocate with company needs and expectations.
  • Culture-centered – our positive, team-oriented, respectful, high-performing, caring culture continues to be top of mind – always. The people leader sets the tone in leading by example and requires it from every team member, manager, and leader.
  • Influence – ability to build credibility and respect where your actions and opinions carry sufficient weight for swift and effective decision making. You lead by example, recognize great work, make the tough calls, and expect it of all others.
  • Employee Retention - ensure competitive compensation and benefits, encourage, and guide professional development, and promote innovative initiatives that attract, motivate, and retain top talent.
  • Talent driven performance management – drive the staffing plan that ensures company goals and initiatives are successful – hire the best people for the job; provide the tools to perform; set expectations with clear goals and metrics; and hold oneself and others accountable.
  • Team Diversity – Ensure our team is diverse in its demographics and skillsets, while promoting inclusion and growth opportunities. Having a diverse team will result in the best products and culture.
  • Innovation – create organizational practices, structure and policies that ignite innovation among team members; help remove roadblocks for team members to lead the way in providing a product that people go to first to make their day better – everyday.
  • Compliance – ensure Likewise meets all business, reporting, and employee communication requirements; know when to implement policies and procedures to meet business needs and compliance requirements.
  • People Manager – experience in growing and successfully managing an HR team; coaching and developing our people managers; and training employees for both personal and professional growth.
  • Whatever Else It Takes – be the glue that holds the team together. Own what’s not owned by the other operational leads of the business such as being the point person on things like Board management, administration of our equity plan, vendors and contractors, facilities, and legal, and financial matters. But it won't stop there, so curiosity, creativity, resourcefulness, and proactivity need to be second nature.
