The People & Communities (P&C) organization serves as the strategic consultant, trusted advisor and advocate for our employees. Our mission is to see across - to deliver insights, raise and scale innovative practices, and create a more connected and inclusive experience across each horizontal, that ultimately shapes the people plans and measures their impact among the communities we serve. The P&C team is focused on ensuring our people are at their best because they have the support and tools they need to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

THE ROLE

As a direct report to the Chief People Officer (CPO) and member of the P&C Leadership Team (PCLT), the Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Officer has the esteemed responsibility of leading the enterprise-wide DEI agenda, developing a vision consistent with our purpose to power an inclusive future for all, and executing on that vision. The Chief DEI Officer will serve as a strategic consultant and trusted advisor between the CEO, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the CPO, and the PCLT.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish a world-class, innovative, sustainable, and scalable DEI charter that will continue to raise the bar.

• Set objectives that will accelerate our Conscious Culture – goals related to the hiring, promoting, compensating, coaching, and developing of our people.

• Develop a holistic DEI strategy to ensure all employees are equipped to bring their authentic selves to work, welcome diverse perspectives, facilitate equitable outcomes, and foster environment of inclusivity.

• Cross-collaborate with peer leaders and key stakeholders to identify targeted development areas within each business/function and bring the holistic strategy to light.

• Create a roadmap and stakeholder map that holds us accountable to advancing DEI agenda, specifically around hiring, developing, promoting, coaching, and compensating.

• Identify and establish DEI partners (entities, champions, committees, etc.) within each business to help drive DEI efforts.

• Link arms with the broader Cisco ecosystem to further cascade DEI principles, practices, and formal programming, ensuring our peers remain sensitive to DEI goals.

• Expand on the Conscious Culture definition and deliver against our external commitments to social justice outlined in our Social Justice Beliefs & 12 subsequent Actions, managed by our Inclusive Future Action Office (IFAO).

• Partner with the CPO to develop/deploy/measure organizational changes as needed, relevant to DEI.

• Demonstrate thought leadership on DEI best practices, insights, trends, and benchmark comparisons.

• Lead the design and delivery of key performance indicators for DEI team.

• Present to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) & Board and participate in subsidiary Board engagements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.

• 15+ years of experience in Human Resources function, with several years leading DEI teams and DEI-focused initiatives.

• Track record of devising a firmwide DEI strategy, creating programs and developing KPIs/ measurements of success against a budget.

• Experience navigating across a large, complex organization.

• Knowledge of public policy and relevant employment laws and regulations as they relate to DEI work.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Strategic thinker and problem solver who can see the big picture yet translate to tactical execution.

• Ability to balance short- and long-term objectives, interpret business strategy and connect it to the overall strategy.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate and position the vision/strategy with a variety of audiences.

• Influencer who can appeal to different major stakeholders, build consensus, and change mindsets.

• Ability to deal with ambiguity, be self-driven, multitask and manage dynamically changing, competing priorities and deadlines.

• In partnership with the CPO, create a People organization that continues to be recognized as the employer of choice for top talent.
